Associate Head of School – Enterprise/Knowledge Exchange (2017-2022)
As Associate Head in the School Art, Design and Architecture Polly lead the Enterprise & Creative Industries agenda within the School of Art, Design & Architecture developing Academic Excellence and Enterprise/Knowledge Exchange based activities.

Polly is a Senior Fellow Higher Education Academy and Fellow of the Royal Society of the Arts


Associate Professor of Design Practice & Programme Leader for the MDes Design course.

Polly leads a group of internationally acclaimed practitioners who teach the thinking, inventing, designing, creating, manufacturing, constructing, building, producing and making of objects and artefacts.


- Guest Professor in Industrial Design at Jiangnan University, Wuxi, China

- Visiting Professor in the Industrial Design Department, Faculty of   Architecture at Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, Thailand.

Sustainable Earth Institute

The Sustainability Hub: Co - Investigator Low Carbon Devon project

Supervisor for Industrial Research Fellow in Creative Industries 

Supported by an investment from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), the three-year £2.6 million programme, will support Devon-based organisations to access research, business support, and engage with the University of Plymouth around the low-carbon agenda.

External Examiner

An external examiner plays an important role in all undergraduate and post graduate degree level courses. 
The key elements of the role are to ensure academic standards internally, confirm assessment processes, measure student achievement against intended learning outcomes, affirm standards are appropriate by reference to published national subject benchmarks and the National Qualifications Framework and that awards are comparable in standard to awards conferred by other UK HE institutions.

Enhancing Quality in the Arts

EQ-Arts supports higher arts education institutions through its provision of both external review and consultancy on their internal process of self-evaluation and enhancement of their quality systems with the aim of promoting a strong quality culture across the European higher arts education sector.
